Yvonne Romain starred opposite Oliver Reed in two Hammer Studios productions, as the “jailer’s daughter” in The Curse Of The Werewolf (1961) and in a larger role in Captain Clegg (1962), which also starred Peter Cushing. Other genre appearances include Circus of Horrors (1960), Corridors of Blood (1958) with Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee, and Devil Doll (1964).

She was introduced to a new generation of fans (s0rt of) when Mystery Science Theatre 3000 ripped up Devil Doll in 1997.
Though she was no stranger to horror and sci-fi, Hazel Court had the distinction of being the first true Hammer Heroine, when she landed the role of Victor Frankenstein’s cousin Elizabeth in Hammer’s breakthrough gothic horror film, The Curse of Frankenstein (1957). She went on to work for Hammer again several years later in The Man Who Could Cheat Death. In the ’60’s, she went on to work in several of the Roger Corman-helmed Edgar Allen Poe adaptations, such as The Masque of the Red Death with Vincent Price, and The Raven, with Price and horror legend Boris Karloff. She retired from acting in 1981, her final screen role being in The Omen III: The Final Conflict. She died in 2008 at the age of 82.
