Easily our choice for “Best Eyes” of the Hammer Girls, Madeline Smith launched her screen career with a small part in the 1970 sex romp Pussycat, Pussycat, I Love You, appearing with fellow Hammer Girl Veronica Carlson. The following year, she appeared in two films for Hammer Studios: as “Dolly” in Taste The Blood of Dracula (opposite Christopher Lee), and as “Emma Morton” in The Vampire Lovers (opposite Peter Cushing). In 1973, she appeared with Vincent Price in Theatre of Blood, and joined the ranks of the Bond Girls as “Miss Caruso” in Live and Let Die, with Roger Moore as James Bond. A year later, she returned to Hammer, starring with David Prowse and reunited with Peter Cushing in Frankenstein and The Monster From Hell.

Jenny Hanley appeared briefly in the 1969 James Bond flick On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, then got a starring role opposite Christopher Lee a year later in the Hammer Studios production Scars of Dracula (1970). After a handful of other film and television roles throughout the 1970′s, she retired from acting in 1980.

Marsha Hunt

The lovely Marsha A. Hunt got her start appearing nude in Lichfield photos and onstage in the London cast of “Hair”, where she met Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones and conceived his love-child, Karis Jagger. She appeared in only one Hammer film, Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972), starring opposite Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. She also appeared in Howling II: Werewolf Bitch (1985) and a handful of other roles before retiring from acting in the late 1980′s. Since then, she has been pursuing her writing interests, and has published several books, including two autobiographies: Real Life: The Story of a Survivor (1986) and Undefeated (2006).

Although she was born in England, Marsha Hunt was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and then studied at U.C. Berkeley before returning to England in the 1960′s. Hunt was diagnosed with breast cancer in November, 2005, and lost her right breast and lymph nodes to the disease. She discusses her ordeal in her new autobiography, Undefeated. She currently resides in Ireland, but also maintains a home in France, and is working on a biography of Jimi Hendrix.
